This piece was inspired by a day spent several hours outside Bangkok, where I was introduced to an elephant on a hot afternoon. We shared a few bananas and a calm moment in the water—until she suddenly decided the visit was over and gently dumped me straight into the river.
Later, I imagined her continuing the journey into the city, quietly riding the Bangkok Mass Transit System like any other commuter.
The Quiet Passenger blends that memory with the surreal calm of water filling the train car, transforming a busy commute into a moment of stillness.
